What's steeping in the press.

Forthcoming

Weikou

In Mobile, Alabama, the Three Moon Society throws one of the oldest Mardi Gras balls in the South. That's the story, anyway.

Behind the masks and court titles is a government most people will never know exists. Jade Ward has spent her career as an officer for the Court of Power, working its ugliest cases quietly and well. So when election season comes around, she sees an opportunity. Running for Queen of Power is nothing more than a political tactic, a way to get her name out and move up the ranks. She never expects to wear the crown.

Then her former lover, Lan, the most influential vampire in the South, tilts the election in her favor. To some he's a kingmaker. To others, he's the reason they still have land to stand on. To Jade, he's the one complication she can't afford.

Now she's in over her head. She has a court that doubts her, cases the other Courts refuse to touch, and a city whispering that her crown was a gift. And to add fuel to the fire, there's the bargain she struck years ago: once a year, on her birthday, he's hers to resist, until one of them finally gives in.

Power was never supposed to be in her grasp. And the vampire she swore she was done with was never supposed to be the reason she claimed it.

About the Author

K.J. Moore

K.J. Moore writes Southern stories with a supernatural pulse: messy politics, slow-burn love, and characters who are better at protecting everyone else than themselves. A graduate of the University of South Alabama with a degree in International Studies, she's drawn to the places where borders, power, and belonging collide, even when the borders are between humans and vampires. She lives on Alabama's Gulf Coast, where the flood watch never really ends, with her dog Gizmo. When she isn't writing, she's studying Mandarin, sketching her own cover art, and insisting she's far too much of a scaredy-cat for the horror side of her own press. Weikou is her debut novel.
