A JAVAHouse Experience

The Inkwood Society

A free monthly letter and alternate reality game from a town that was never meant to be found.

01
The Letter

Each month, a letter arrives in your inbox from Chamberlain, a hidden, enchanted town built by escaped Black Americans in the woodlands of Alabama in the late 1800s. It is written by the protagonist to her cousin. The cousin is you.

02
The Art

Original illustrations bring Chamberlain to life: its people, its mysteries, its creatures. Each piece is crafted by our resident artist. Some things are better seen than described. Look closely.

03
The Puzzle

A cipher waits at the end of every letter. Solve it and something hidden opens up. The Society rewards those who look carefully, think slowly, and follow where the clues lead.
